Preview: #15/15 Gophers vs. Green Bay
11/4/2017 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Nov. 4, 2017
The Minnesota men's basketball team welcomes the Green Bay Phoenix for a charity exhibition Sunday afternoon at Maturi Pavilion. Tip off is at noon, with BTN Plus providing a web stream.
HURRICANE RELIEF
100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales on Sunday will go to the American Red Cross's hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. In addition, 50 percent of merchandise sales and 25 percent of concessions sold Sunday at the Pav will be donated. Head coach Richard Pitino has pledged to donate $1 for every ticket sold as well.
Minnesota is no stranger to the people and island of Puerto Rico, having played twice on the Isle of Enchantment in the last four years. The Gophers opened their 2014-15 season in Aguadilla at the Borinquen Coast Guard Air Station against Louisville in the ESPN Armed Forces Classic, and one year later took part in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan.
EXHIBITION RECAPS
Both teams won their first exhibition earlier in the week. The Gophers cruised to a 106-58 win over Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday at the Barn, while Green Bay topped Ripon, 100-70, at the Resch Center on Monday.
UP NEXT
The Gophers lift the lid on the 2017-18 campaign Friday night, hosting USC Upstate at 7:00 p.m. at Williams Arena.
