On Thursday, Nov. 16, Gopher Athletics is asking fans to support the Nothing Short of Greatness campaign, the most ambitious push to update athletics facilities in the department's history. The projects supported by this campaign will change the everyday college experience for every current and future Gopher student-athlete, giving them an athletic experience that mirrors the world-class academic experience provided at the University of Minnesota. The call to action comes on Give to the Max Day, Minnesota's statewide philanthropic giving initiative.

For the first time ever, Gopher Athletics will thank everyone who invests in Gopher student-athletes on Give to the Max Day with double Gopher Score points on any donation up to $25,000. All current season ticket holders and donors have a Gopher Score, which is used for season, single-game and postseason ticket sales and credits in the Gopher Loyalty Program.

The two major aspects of the Nothing Short of Greatness campaign that will be featured on Give to the Max Day are the Athletes Village and the Outdoor Track and Field Stadium.

The Athletes Village will open in fewer than 100 days. This transformational project includes a dramatically expanded and modernized academic center, the department's first nutrition center to provide meals for student-athletes, a leadership center designed to partner with Minnesota's vibrant business community to prepare student-athletes for life after sport, the first-ever practice facilities for Gopher men's and women's basketball, new support spaces for Gopher football, and a new indoor practice field. These facilities are scheduled to open in January.

The Outdoor Track and Field Stadium will be located just a few hundred yards from the Athletes Village, on the other side of Siebert Field and Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The new track and field facility will give Minnesota the opportunity to host outdoor collegiate meets for the first time in 15 years, with a state-of-the-art track surface and full field event hosting capabilities. The facility will eliminate the need for track and field student-athletes to commute around the metro area to practice, giving them a training facility within one of the most inclusive athletics districts at anything Division I school in the country. It will also be a centerpiece facility for the state's track and field community, providing a new venue for the state's largest high school meets and a Minnesota option for USA Track and Field competitions.
