Four Nations Cup: Day Two

MINNEAPOLIS - Eleven Golden Gophers are representing their home countries at the 2017 Four Nations Cup in Tampa, Fla., this week. Preliminary round games began Tuesday with Canada securing a 9-0 win over Sweden before the United States topped Finland, 8-2.

Seven Gophers are centralized with the U.S. Women's National Team, two are with Canada's National Women's Team, and two alumnae are representing Finland as all three countries use this week's Four Nations Cup to help prepare for the 2018 Olympic Games.

Preliminary round games at the Four Nations Cup are set for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday with the medal games to follow on Sunday.

Game Three: Finland 3, Sweden 1

Mira Jalosuo tallied one shot on goal and helped Finland hold Sweden to one goal in the team's 3-1 win to improve to 1-1-0 in Four Nations Cup play. Noora Raty did not dress for Finland.

Game Four: U.S. 4, Canada 2

Megan Bozek (1g-1a) and Gigi Marvin (1a) tallied points for the U.S., and all nine possible Gophers took the ice for their respective teams in the second game of the day Wednesday at the Four Nations Cup. Sarah Potomak and Amy Potomak were in the lineup for Canada while Lee Stecklein, Kelly Pannek, Hannah Brandt, Dani Cameranesi, and Amanda Kessel joined Bozek and Marvin in representing the Red, White, and Blue in the 4-2 win for the U.S.
