Gophers Add 25 To Roster

The University of Minnesota added of 25 student-athletes to the Golden Gopher football program, head coach P.J. Fleck announced Wednesday.
Of the 25 student-athletes reported by Fleck, three were already enrolled in classes at Minnesota. The other 22 signed their National Letters of Intent Wednesday.
Twenty-three student-athletes in Minnesota's recruiting class will be true freshmen for the 2016 season, while two join the Gophers from the junior college ranks.
The Maroon and Gold signed players from 14 different states. Five players will stay in Minnesota, four come from Illinois, three from Michigan, two from both Kentucky and Iowa and one each from Texas, Oregon, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, Mississippi, Indiana, Ohio and Georgia.
The 2017 Minnesota recruiting class features 14 offensive players, 11 defensive players and one specialist.
Defensive lineman was the most heavily-targeted position with the Gophers signing six players. Defensive back, quarterback, offensive lineman, wide receiver and tight end positions all had three signees.
