Minnesota sophomore forward Jordan Murphy was recognized Monday for his outstanding play last week, earning Big Ten Co-Player of the Week honors. It is Murphy's first time receiving the honor, following a pair of top freshman weekly awards last season, and the fourth award for the Gophers this season.

The San Antonio, Texas native led the Gophers to a pair of victories last week over Iowa and Rutgers, posting double-doubles in each game. On Wednesday in the double-overtime thriller against the Hawkeyes, Murphy scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-13 field goal shooting, adding 19 rebounds and four blocks. He also contributed one assist and one steal in 39 minutes of action.

On Saturday at Rutgers, Murphy scored a team-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, also contributing a steal as the Gophers picked up their third straight win and fourth of the conference season away from home.

Murphy has now totaled seven double-doubles on the year and 16 for his career. He leads the Gophers and ranks sixth in the Big Ten, pulling down 8.0 rebounds per game.

The Gophers return to action with a pair of home games this week, hosting Indiana on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. and Michigan Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
