Minneapolis, Minn. - The reigning Big Ten regular season champion University of Minnesota Golden Gophers completed a three-game sweep of the Seattle University Redhawks Sunday with a 11-7 victory at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Maroon and Gold offense once again exploded for double digit hits and runs. Minnesota's scoring began in the bottom of the second inning after they fell behind 2-0 after a Jeffrey Morgan two-run homerun. The Gophers answered back with four runs of their own starting with a Jordan Smith double that scored Troy Traxler and Terrin Vavra.

A couple of batters later Smith would score on a single up the middle off of the bat of Alex Boxwell. Freshman catcher Eli Wilson ended the second inning scoring with his first collegiate RBI when he singled through the right side, scoring Luke Pettersen.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Micah Coffey drove in Boxwell with a sacrifice fly to center field to put the Gophers up 5-3.

Seattle University added another run in the top of the fifth inning but once again the Gophers answered back, this time with two runs. After Vavra reached base and advanced to second on an error by the second basemen, he scored on a Toby Hanson single that was knocked down by the Redhawks' first baseman.

The second run of the fifth inning came on the board when Pettersen hit a single through the left side, scoring Hanson.

Pettersen picked up another RBI in the seventh inning when he pushed another pitch through the left side, this time scoring Estrada, Jr. who walked earlier in the inning.

Minnesota finally pulled away from the Redhawks in the bottom of the eighth inning with three runs. Coffey would score on a Hanson double to left field. Shortly after Smith doubled off of the wall in center field, driving in both Matt Stemper and Hanson to put the Gophers up 11-7 for good.

Senior righty Toby Anderson started on the mound for the Gopher this afternoon. He went 5.0 innings where he allowed 10 hits and four earned runs but struck out two batters and only walked one batter.

Reggie Meyer took over Anderson and threw 1.2 innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out one batter. The pitcher of record was freshman Alex Farley who made his Gopher debut today. In his first collegiate win, Farley threw 0.2 innings of no-hit ball.

Brian Glowicki picked up his third save of the season, throwing 1.2 innings where he struck out two batters and did not allow a hit.

Minnesota takes a day off before returning to U.S. Bank Stadium as they host the North Dakota State Bison Tuesday at 6 p.m. You can follow the action this year by following the Gophers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
