Gophers Strong through Opening Round in Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Minnesota women's golf team opened play Monday at the Hurricane Invitational, tying for sixth following 18 holes at the Biltmore Golf Club.
With a team score of 296 (+8), the Gophers are tied with Barry University and 10 shots back of leader Louisville.
Junior Sabrine Garrison, who sits tied for 12th, led the way on Monday, carding an even-par 72 which included just one bogey to go with a birdie on the 18th hole. Two shots behind her was senior Emie Peronnin, who is tied for 26th at two-over-par 74.
Tying for 34th place are junior Heather Ciskowski and sophomore Muyu Wu, each finishing the opening round with a score of three-over-par 75.
Sophomore Niamh Ward rounds out the Gopher lineup, as she is 85th with a round-one score of 84.
Three players are among a tie for the individual lead at three-under par.
The Gophers will return to the links for round two Tuesday morning, with tee times scheduled to begin at 8:50 a.m. ET.
