Gophers Trio Named to All-Big Ten Teams

University of Minnesota gymnasts Bailie Holst, Bailey Abernathy and Ciara Gardner have been named to the 2017 All-Big Ten teams, announced today by the conference. Holst was selected to the First Team All-Big Ten, while Abernathy and Gardner were awarded to the Second Team All-Big Ten.
For the second-straight season, Holst has picked up All-Big Ten First team honors. Holst has emerged as an all-around competitor in her senior season and has won nine event titles, including three on all-around. Throughout the season, she has earned personal records on vault (9.850), beam (9.850), floor (9.900) and all-around (39.425). Holst was named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week after her all-around title at the Big Five meet Iowa.
After not competing during her first two seasons, Abernathy has emerged as a top competitor on vault and floor for Minnesota and has been selected to the Second Team All-Big Ten. During her senior season she has tallied nine event titles and has recorded career high scores on vault (9.925) and floor (9.950). Abernathy has been named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week three times this season.
Gardner picks up her first All-Big Ten selection. Gardner has won eight event titles, including three on all-around during her junior campaign. During the season, she notched career best scores on vault (9.850), beam (9.900), floor (9.900) and all-around (39.400). Gardner was tabbed a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch prior to the start of the 2017 season.
