Trio Earns All-USCHO Honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Three Golden Gopher women's hockey players are among the 2016-17 All-USCHO honorees, U.S. College Hockey Online has announced. Kelly Pannek (first team), Lee Stecklein (second team), and Sarah Potomak (third team) have been named All-USCHO honorees as 24 players representing nine schools were honored.
National champion Clarkson led the way with five players, followed by NCAA runner-up Wisconsin with four. Minnesota's three honorees was tied for the third-most of any team, joining Princeton and Boston College with a trio of honorees, and St. Lawrence (two), Minnesota Duluth (two), Cornell (one), and Robert Morris (one) rounded out the teams represented.
Pannek received All-USCHO First Team honors for the first time in her career. She wrapped up her junior season tied for the nation's scoring lead with a career-high 62 points (19g-43a). She was also named a Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award top-10 finalist and All-WCHA First Team honoree. The 2017 WCHA Scoring Champion recorded 44 points (14g-30a) in 28 league games as well.
Stecklein picked up her second All-USCHO Second Team award after also being selected to the USCHO Second Team last season. Stecklein finished the season with 24 points (4g-20a) and ranked fifth in the nation for scoring among defensemen with 0.67 points per game. She was also honored as an All-WCHA First Team honoree.
Potomak earned her second All-USCHO award of her career as well, securing a place on the All-USCHO Third Team after being named to the rookie team as a freshman. She ended her sophomore season with 53 points (20g-33a) and ranked eighth in the nation with 1.39 points per game. Potomak was named a Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award top-10 finalist and All-WCHA Second Team selection this season as well.
