Minneapolis, Minn. -- The University of Minnesota travels to East Lansing, Mich. Friday to take on the Michigan State Spartans for their second Big Ten three-game series.

The Gophers are 15-8 overall this season and 3-0 in conference play after sweeping Ohio State in Columbus.

Minnesota has a .284 team batting average with Jordan Kozicky (.400) and Luke Pettersen (.397) leading the team. Five Gophers have a .300 batting average or higher. Toby Hanson leads the team with seven doubles while Alex Boxwell leads with four doubles. Jordan Smith has four home runs and Matt Stemper is second with three. Smith is also tied with Hanson for the team lead in RBIs, 16. As a team, the Maroon and Gold are 15-24 in stolen bases, seven of those swipes coming from Boxwell.

The Minnesota pitching staff has a 4.11 ERA as a team and Lucas Gilbreath leads all starting pitchers with a 2.73 ERA while posting a 2-0 record and 34 strikeouts. Tim Shannon leads all pitchers with 13 appearances. The senior is 0-0 out of the bullpen with two saves and 10 strikeouts. Brian Glowick leads the team with nine saves. The senior righty is 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA and has struck out 16 batters. Glowicki's nine saves is tied for second most in the country.

Michigan State is 15-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play after sweeping Illinois. The Spartans have a .305 team batting average, led by Alex Troop's .371 batting average. Brandon Hughes leads the team with 30 hits and 20 RBIs. Michigan State has hit 28 homeruns this season with Marty Bechina leading the team with six. Hughes also leads the team with 15 stolen bases.

The Spartans boast a 3.34 team ERA with Troop leading all starting pitchers with a 2.23 ERA.
Troop also leads the team with 30 strikeouts. Walter Borkovich leads the team with 12 appearances and is 4-1 on the season out of the bullpen with 19 strikeouts. Riley McCauley has five saves in eight appearances and 13 strikeouts.
