Gophers Continue Big Ten Play in Michigan

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team will take their game on the road to compete against Michigan State on Saturday and Michigan on Sunday.
Both matches will begin at 11 a.m. on the respective day.
The Golden Gophers are 2-3 in Big Ten play and 10-7 overall, coming off a tight win over Nebraska and falling to Iowa. Nebraska had not dropped a Big Ten match until their downfall at the hands of the Gophers.
Tina Kreinis now leads Minnesota with 11 victories in singles dual match play, including the lone singles win against Iowa. Kreinis currently has a 7-4 record at spot No. 2, as well as a 3-0 recording when competing in the No. 1 position. She is now 18-11 overall on the season.
Camila Vargas Gomez sits at an 18-8 record, slating 10-4 in dual match play. Her record at the No. 6 spot is 8-3, while she's also recorded one win apiece at both the No. 3 and No. 5 spots.
Kreinis is now 4-1 in conference play while senior captain Maja Vujic is 3-1 at the No. 5 spot, including winning the deciding set against Nebraska.
Doubles play is led by the tandem of Vargas Gomez and Annemarie Emme who are 9-5 at spot No. 3, and Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei with a 9-6 record.
Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher are 3-2 in conference play. The Maroon and Gold are currently 28-19 in doubles dual matches this season.
Following the Michigan trip, the Maroon and Gold will travel to Tulsa April 8.

Michigan's third ranked player is Chiara Lommer at No. 106. She is 6-4 at the No. 3 spot, also tallying a win at position No. 4. The Wolverines' duo of Fahey and Alex Najarian are 9-2, earning them a No. 2 ranking. Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook are ranked No. 43 with a 6-4 record.
