Gophers Ready to Host Spring Set, April 22

The University of Minnesota volleyball program will celebrate the 2016 Final Four season with a banner celebration following the home spring match, April 22, against Iowa State. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
Prior to Minnesota's scrimmage against the Cyclones, the Gophers will offer locker room tours, from 9-11 a.m. The Gophers and Cyclones are set to begin their warm ups at 1:30 p.m., with the scrimmage starting at 2:30 p.m. The two teams will compete in 4-5 sets to 25 points. Locker room tours will be also be available during sets 2-4.
Following the scrimmage, the Gophers will showcase their 2016 Final Four banner and highlight the 2016 season. Minnesota student-athletes will sign autographs following the banner recognition.
Minnesota advanced to its second-straight Final Four and held a 29-5 overall record. The Gophers held the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament for the second-straight year. They defeated North Dakota (First Round), Hawaii (Second Round), Missouri (Third Round) and UCLA (Fourth Round) en route to the 2016 Final Four.
Sarah Wiilhite was named American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year, the first in program history. Wilhite and Samantha Seliger-Swenson were named First Team AVCA All-Americans, while Hannah Tapp was second team and Alexis Hart and Molly Lohman received honorable mention status. Three Gophers, Wilhite, Seliger-Swenson and Hannah Tapp, were named All-Big Ten selections. Wilhite also garnered Big Ten Player of the Year accolades as Seliger-Swenson was Big Ten Setter of the Year.

*Any prospect (individuals in 9th grade and above) competing in tournament play may not interact with the University of Minnesota coaching staff. Per NCAA Bylaw 13.1.6.2, recruiting contact is prohibited the day of (or on-call for) athletic competition in which the prospect is a participant until the prospect has been released by the appropriate authority after their final competition.
