Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team will tackle their last home-stand this weekend, hosting Purdue on Friday at 3 p.m. and Indiana on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The match versus Indiana will highlight senior captain Maja Vujic, the lone senior this season.

"When I met Maja and her Dad in Canada on a recruiting trip, her Dad said, 'I promise you, that she will ALWAYS work hard!'." Head coach Chuck Merzbacher said. "Well he was one hundred percent correct and she has lead this team by her effort since day one." Maja has represented the University of Minnesota, her team, and her family in a way that we can all be proud of her. It has been a joy to coach her and watch her grow into our Senior-Captain."

The Indiana match will also mark the final time a Chuck Merzbacher led team will play at Baseline Tennis Center as he announced his retirement at the end of the season earlier this week.

The Golden Gophers are 2-4 in Big Ten play and 10-10 overall, coming off a loss to No. 35 Tulsa.

Tina Kreinis now leads Minnesota with 11 victories in singles dual match play. Kreinis currently has a 7-6 record at spot No. 2, as well as a 3-0 recording when competing in the No. 1 position. She is now 18-13 overall on the season.

Camila Vargas Gomez sits at an 18-11 record, slating 10-7 in dual match play. Her record at the No. 6 spot is 8-4, while she's also recorded one win apiece at both the No. 3 and No. 5 spots.

Carolne Ryba slated the lone win over Tulsa this past weekend. She shares a 10-7 record with Vargas Gomez, all from the No. 1 spot. She and Kreinis lead the team in conference wins with 3 apiece.

Doubles play is led by the tandem of Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei with a dual record of 10-7, followed by the duo of Vargas Gomez and Annemarie Emme slating a 9-6 record.

After this weekend, the Maroon and Gold will finish out the regular season against Maryland and Rutgers the weekend of April 21.
