Streich, Wiebke Cruise in Stacked 1,500 Race

AZUSA, Calif. (GopherSports.com) - Shane Streich and Derek Wiebke ran the fastest 1,500 meters of the season for the Minnesota men's track & field program and two of the fastest times in the Big Ten this year to close out the weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday night.

Competing at Cougar Stadium with more than 275 runners in the 1,500 meters, Streich and Wiebke both posted personal records as well as top-30 finishes.

Streich led the way in 23rd place while his time of 3:42.81 currently ranks eighth all-time on Minnesota's top performers list. Wiebke was less than a second behind his teammate at 3:43.45, coming across the finish line in 30th.

The pair of Gophers currently rank second and third in the Big Ten this year behind Illinois' Jesse Reiser, who finished 19th at the event with a time of 3:42.37.
