IIHF Women's Worlds: Day Five

MINNEAPOLIS - Ten current and former Gophers are representing their countries at the 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship. In Thursday's semifinals, eight Gophers earned their place in Friday's gold-medal game as Canada defeated Finland, 4-0, and the United States blanked Germany, 11-0.

Sarah Potomak scored the game-winning goal for Canada, and Noora Raty made 32 saves on 35 shots faced for Finland. Meanwhile, Amanda Kessel recorded three assists as the U.S. cruised past Germany.

The 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship wraps up with Friday's medal round. Finland will face Germany in the bronze-medal game at 2:30 p.m. CT with the U.S. and Canada meeting in the gold-medal game at 6:30 p.m. CT.
