MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - Senior Nate Roese of the Minnesota men's track & field program has been named the Big Ten men's track athlete of the week after picking up a win in the 800 meters last week at the Bear Cat Twilight.
A native of Woodbury, Minn., Roese led the field in his first 800-meter race of the season last Wednesday behind a personal record of 1:49.63 at Concordia-St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium. A Second Team All-American last year in the outdoor 4x400 meter relay and a three-time All-Big Ten selection, today's honor is the first career Big Ten weekly accolade for Roese.
The Maroon & Gold head to the 2017 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, May 12-14, at Penn State.
