Zeimann Paces New Zealand in Win

Gopher volleyball freshman Alice Zeimann (Christchurch, New Zealand) competed with New Zealand's U23 team as they participated in the Asian Women's U23 Championships, May 13-21 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

New Zealand finished 11th out of 14 teams as a part of the Pool D. The team competed against Malaysia, Iran and Uzbekistan to open competition. The Kiwis also defeated Sri Lanka in the quarterfinals in their final match play. In the win over Sri Lanka, Zeimann recorded a match-high 17 points, which included three blocks and four aces. New Zealand also competed in two unofficial matches, including a win over Austrailia.

Zeimann, a 6-foot outside hitter, joined the Gopher program in January and competed for Minnesota during the spring season. Playing for Burnside High School and Shirley Volleyball Club, she entered her college career as a two-time New Zealand Senior women's team member. She has competed in both indoor and beach volleyball. Zeimann played in both the Youth and Junior Asian Championships in 2014 (Taiwan and Thailand). She also competed in the U19's Asian and World Championships in 2015 and 2016, where she won silver at the Asian Beach championship.
