MINNEAPOLIS -- In anticipation of the upcoming season, GopherSports.com takes a closer look at each of the Gopher women's hockey team's 2017-18 opponents. Up this week is St. Cloud State.

About the Series: Minnesota vs. St. Cloud State
The Gophers have a 75-3-2 all-time record against St. Cloud State. The teams met four times last season, with Minnesota winning all four games. The Gophers bring a 34-game winning streak against the Huskies into this year's match-up.

Dani Cameranesi (3g-3a), Kelly Pannek (2g-4a), Lee Stecklein (1g-4a), and Sarah Potomak (2g-3a) led the Gophers to four victories over SCSU last season.

Scouting the Huskies
St. Cloud State had a record of 9-23-4 last season. The Huskies' season ended with a best-of-three series sweep by Minnesota Duluth in the WCHA First Round.

Sophomore Julia Tylke led St. Cloud State with 20 points (12g-8a) on the season. Goaltender Janine Alder played 31 games, posting a .926 save percentage and a 2.54 goals against average.

The team graduated six seniors but has announced the addition of 11 newcomers. Hallie Theodosopoulos and Abby Thiessen join the Huskies as sophomore transfers from North Dakota while Taylor Wemple (Lino Lakes, Minn.) joins the Huskies' previously announced incoming class of Emma Polusny (Mound, Minn.), Laura Kluge (Berlin, Germany), Emma Bigham (Minnetonka, Minn.), Megan Roe (Woodhaven, Mich.), Aubrey Pritchett (Orange, Calif.), Kenzie Wylie (Ham Lake, Minn.), Tatum Coats (Lakewood, Calif.), and Hannah Bates (Trenton, Mich.) for the 2017-18 season.

Last Time Out
Minnesota blanked St. Cloud 5-0 in the last meeting between the two teams last season. Lee Stecklein (1g-2a), Nicole Schammel (1g-1a), Sarah Potomak (1g-1a), and Caitlin Reilly (2a) led the Gophers to victory, and Tianna Gunderson scored her first career goal.

Young Talent
St. Cloud state returns last year's top-four scorers for the 2017-18 season. Tylke led the team with 20 points (12g-8a) while freshman Kayla Friesen came in next with a total of 19 points (7g-11a).

Next Season
The Gophers host St. Cloud State in the teams' first meeting of the season on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18. The squads meet in a non-conference game to kick off play in 2018 with a 6 p.m. puck drop on Tuesday, Jan. 9 before meeting in St. Cloud, Minn., for another WCHA series on Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3.
