Gophers Unveil Salute to Service White Helmets

Minnesota will wear special helmets on Saturday as it hosts a Salute to Service members game against Maryland at 11 a.m. at TCF Bank Stadium. The helmets pay tribute to Minnesota's National Guard and each helmet features six decals that will be displayed along a patriotic center stripe. The Minnesota National Guard logo will be displayed at the front of the helmet. The logo on the back of the helmet belongs to the USS Minnesota, which is a fast-attack submarine that was commissioned in 2013. Each helmet has four logos adorned along the stripe between the Minnesota National Guard mark and the USS Minnesota logo. The four logos in the middle of the stripe recognize a unit or subsection of the Minnesota National Guard. Gopher fans generously donated 544 tickets to military personnel to coincide with Minnesota's Salute to Service initiative on Saturday. Those tickets were then distribute by Beyond The Yellow Ribbon.
