Bacon Wins 1-meter at Tennessee Diving Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Minnesota's Sarah Bacon stole the show for Gopher diving on day one of the Tennessee Diving Invite. The sophomore picked up the first place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 327.90 points. Bacon edged out Arkansas' Brooke Schultz by 2.2 points, following a strong score of 52.80 on dive 403B in the sixth round.

Teammate Kristen Hayden finished six with a score of 291.85, reaching the finals after a 271.10 preliminary score.

Also competing in the 1-meter competition were Mariam Khamis (15th, 255.10), Morgan Justus (16th, 247.85), Beth Etterman (17th, 247.80) and Jenelle Crozier (31st, 198.90).

On the men's side, Nick Yang recorded the Gophers highest finish on the 3-meter. Yang scored a 352.15 for a seventh place finish, while Alan LeBlang (333.40) and Maxim Royzen (332.40) finished 9-10 respectively.

Other Gophers that competed in the prelims included Jeremy Moser (15th, 298.90), Harry Baden (30th, 248.70) and Duncan Lester (33rd, 236.35).

Minnesota diving returns to action tomorrow at the Tennessee Diving Invite beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET. The men are set to compete on the 1-meter board, while the women dive from 3-meters.
