Three Named to Top 50 Watch List

USA SOFTBALL TOP 50 WATCHLIST

Senior Danielle Parlich, junior Maddie Houlihan and sophomore Kendyl Lindaman have all been named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, as announced by USA Softball Wednesday afternoon.

Parlich started in all 61 games for the Gophers last season posting a .344 batting average. With only eight strikeouts her junior year, she led the Big Ten as the "toughest to strike out." Parlich's 77 hits ranked 21st nationally and led all Big Ten players. Parlich was also named to the First-Team All-Big Ten.

Houlihan, a returning starter for the Gophers, played all 61 games last season in the outfield. Houlihan posted a team second-best batting average of .396 which also ranked eighth in the Big Ten. Adding a team-high 17 doubles, the Plymouth, Minn. native ranked 28th in Division I and fourth in the Big Ten. Recording 74 hits, third most in the Big Ten, she posted the fifth best on-base percentage in the Big Ten at .493. Houlihan last season earned a unanimous selection to First-Team All-Big Ten.

Lindaman, the reigning Big Ten Player and unanimous Freshman of the Year led the Gophers in batting average (.426), slugging percentage (.899), on-base percentage (.598), home runs (20), RBI (76) and walks (63). The All-American ranked seventh in the nation and first in the Big Ten in home runs, fifth nationally and first in the Big Ten in slugging percentage and 25th and second in the Big Ten in batting average. She currently holds Minnesota single-game records in home runs, runs batted in, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Lindman also recorded the most Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors recording eight of the weekly accolades. Among other postseason honors, Lindaman earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors as well as being named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team.

The Gophers kick off the regular season on February 9 at the SportCo Kick Off Classic against Southern Utah.
