10/3/2018 9:17:00 AM | Football
Tyler Johnson as played in 28 games and has made 71 catches for 1,113 yards (24th in program history) and 13 touchdowns (tied for 11th in school history) in his Gophers career. The certified star is the veteran of the wide receivers group and has made a habit out of making eye-popping plays.
GS: You've already had a number of great catches this season including the late game one against Fresno State. Nothing may top that one-handed grab from the spring game though. Had you ever done something like that before?
TJ: Well we were doing the two-minute drill and within that the quarterback had scrambled out of the pocket and I noticed that there was no defender in the secondary so I just thought I'd sneak a cheap one. In my head I just went up and got it. It was actually crazy looking back after, it wasn't planned or anything like that, it was just in the moment.
GS: How did it feel to win the Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Year at the Golden Goldies last year?
TJ: It felt great truthfully. I treated it as me winning a Grammy, that was actually funny.
GS: Where do you have the Golden Goldy displayed right now?
TJ: It's in my room on top of my mini fridge.
GS: What is your game day routine like?
TJ: I would say that I put my Beats on my way to the stadium, whichever stadium we are going to. I really don't have a certain playlist I listen to. I just scroll down, click and hit shuffle. From there I get in my zone, put some tape on here and there, stretch, probably eat a peanut butter and jelly before with some fruit and after that it's go time.
GS: Where is your favorite place to hangout on campus?
TJ: I'm usually just chilling in my room.
GS: If you could go on vacation with any teammate or coach, who would you take and where would you go?
TJ: The person I would take with me would be Tai'yon Devers. That's a funny dude and I know we would have a good time and just have a blast. I don't know where we would go, anywhere really, probably another country.
GS: Q'doba or Chipotle?
TJ: I'm a Chipotle kind of guy. I just had Q'doba for the first, maybe second time, the other day and it was actually pretty good, but I have to stick with Chipotle still.

This @T_Muhneyy10 catch was so absurd, @GopherFootball should start the 2018 season with 7 points already on the board. 😱
