Mohamed Ibrahim is having one of the best seasons ever for a U freshman running back.
Freshman Mohamed Ibrahim was supposed to be the third running back this year. Instead, injuries forced him into a lead role and he has not disappointed.Â
Ibrahim has rushed 145 times for 815 yards and six touchdowns in eight games (has missed three games with an injury). His 815 yards are the third most ever for a U freshman and trail only Darrell Thompson (1,376 yards in 1986) and Laurence Maroney (1,121 yards in 2003).Â
He started his career with 101 yards on nine carries against New Mexico State to become the first Gopher to rush for 100 yards or more in his collegiate debut since Thomas Hamner (158 yards vs. NE Louisiana in 1996).Â
Ibrahim rushed for a career high 157 yards (most for a freshman back vs. Buckeyes since Saquan Barkley in 2015) and scored twice at Ohio State. He has three 100-yard games (most by a U freshman since Laurence Maroney had five in 2003) this year.
