Gophers salute NFL crowd with Paul Bunyan's Axe on Sunday night

Six members of the Minnesota football team – Thomas Barber, Blake Cashman, Carter Coughlin, Tyler Johnson, Payton Jordahl and Kamal Martin – saw the Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night in downtown Minneapolis.

The six Minnesota natives took Paul Bunyan's Axe with them and were applauded everywhere they went.

Coughlin, Johnson and the Axe made a stop at the Fox9 television set when they arrived and then joined their teammates on the field before the game. There they posed for countless photos with fans and media and dapped up former Gopher and current Viking Marcus Sherels. They even bumped into the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men's Curling Team that won gold in South Korea.

Minnesota's six Axe-wielding Gophers were then recognized on the field during the first quarter and received a rousing ovation from the 66,872 fans.
