Rashod Bateman's 42 catches is a Minnesota freshman record.

Rashod Bateman could to be the most productive freshman receiver ever at Minnesota. He has 42 catches for 578 yards and six touchdowns – which have all come in Big Ten action – this year.

His 42 catches is a Minnesota freshman record, as he broke Ron Johnson's record of 38 set in 1998.

Bateman's 578 receiving yards ranks second in school history by a freshman. He needs 77 yards to break Ernie Wheelwright's 2004 record of 654 yards and two more touchdowns to break Wheelwright's record of seven.
