Murphy Selected to Naismith Award Watch List

ATLANTA - Selected among the top-50 players to watch in the nation, Minnesota senior forward Jordan Murphy was named Monday to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List.
This is the third major preseason honor for Murphy, who was a Preseason All-Big Ten Team selection as well as named to the Karl Malone Award watch list for the top power forward in the country.
A second-team All-Big Ten selection last spring, Murphy set a new single-season school record and led the nation with 24 double-doubles, while also posting a new school record with 361 rebounds, tops among Big Ten players.
The San Antonio, Texas native ranked seventh in the conference scoring 16.8 points per game, reaching double figures in all but one, and was the team's leader with 32 steals and second-leading shot blocker with 32. He nabbed three Big Ten Player of the Week awards, just the second Gopher to ever do so.
A list of the midseason 30 team will be released on Feb. 13, 2019, followed by the 10 national semifinalists and four finalists on March 4, 2019 and March 19, 2019 respectively. The 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy will be awarded on at the Naismith Awards Brunch on April 7, 2019, during the Final Four in Minneapolis.
