Gophers Receive All-America Honors

Samantha Seliger-Swenson, Stephanie Samedy and Regan Pittman have been named All-Americans, announced today by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association. Seliger-Swenson and Samedy garnered First Team All-America honors, while Regan Pittman was a Second Team All-American. It marks the fourth-straight year for Seliger-Swenson, second-straight for Samedy and Pittman's first-ever All-America honor. Alexis Hart, Taylor Morgan and Adanna Rollins were all named All-America honorable mention.
Seliger-Swenson, a senior setter out of Minnetonka, Minn., landed her fourth AVCA All-America honor and second on the First Team. She also is the first-ever Gopher to become an four-time All-American, as Paula Gentil was a three-time All-American and an honorable mention. Seliger-Swenson finished her Gopher career with 5,674 assists. That mark ranked fourth on Minnesota's career list. The Big Ten Player of the Year guided her team to a .298 hitting clip on the season, Seliger-Swenson distributed the ball to five hitters to over 240 kills and over 480 attempts. Individually, Seliger-Swenson has 1,203 assists this season (averaging 12.58 per set) and has 263 digs, a team-best 38 aces and 41 blocks.
Samedy, a sophomore from Clermont, Fla., is a two-time First Team All-American. She led the team with 359 kills, averaged 3.49 kills per set, is second on the team in digs with 319, and recorded 82 blocks and 21 aces. Through two seasons, Samedy has recorded 837 kills and averages 3.79 kills per set and has hit .295. The 2018 season also marked the second time Samedy was an All-Big Ten selection in just two seasons with Minnesota. She produced 14 double-doubles this season and led Minnesota in kills 10 times this season.
Pittman, a red-shirt sophomore hailing from Spring Hill, Kan., finished her sophomore season hitting a team-best .400. In 552 attempts, Pittman also had 274 kills. She also had 121 blocks and averaged 1.14 blocks per set this season. Pittman hit over .300 20 times this season, 15 times over .400 and 11 times over .500 • An All-Big Ten selection, Pittman hit over .400 against 10 Big Ten opponents, including ranked Purdue, Nebraska, Illinois and Michigan. She also led the team in kills and points five times this past season.
Hart was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection and a Preseason All-Big Ten. Hart, from Kansas City, Mo., ranked second on the team in kills (296) and kills per set (3.02). Morgan, from Blaine, Minn., was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection, her first honor. A first-year starter for the Gophers, Morgan had 249 kills and averaged 2.42 per set. Rollins was named the North Region Freshman of the Year after she added Big Ten All-Freshman honors. She ranked third on the team with 277 kills and averaged 2.59 per set in her first collegiate season.
