Olympic Gophers Update: Feb. 1

MINNEAPOLIS -- Eight current and former Gopher women's hockey players will take the ice at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea as six players with Gopher ties were named to the 2018 U.S. Women's Olympic Team and two Minnesota alumnae are representing Finland.
Senior Kelly Pannek and Gopher alumnae Hannah Brandt ('16), Dani Cameranesi ('17), Amanda Kessel ('16), Gigi Marvin ('09), and Lee Stecklein ('17) will represent the Red, White, and Blue with Team USA. Fellow Gopher alumnae Mira Jalosuo and Noora Raty will represent their native Finland.
Megan Bozek ('13) began the season centralized with the U.S. Women's National Team but did not make the final Olympic roster. Likewise, junior Sarah Potomak and freshman Amy Potomak began the season training full-time with Canada's National Women's Team, but neither made Canada's final Olympic roster.

U.S. Women's Olympic Team Update
Team USA has arrived in South Korea after spending the fall and winter centralized in the Tampa suburb of Wesley Chapel training at Florida Hospital Center Ice. Before departing for Pyeongchang, members of the team participated in the NHL All-Star Weekend.

Finland Women's Olympic Team Update
University of Minnesota alumnae Noora Raty ('13) is making her fourth Olympics appearance after representing Finland in 2006, 2010, and 2014 while Mira Jalosuo ('13) is making her second appearance after joining Raty on Finland's 2014 team. Raty is also playing for the CWHL's Kunlun Red Star this season.
