Olympic Gophers Update: Feb. 13

2018 Gopher Olympians Central | Olympic Hockey Schedule | Know Your GWH Olympians
Eight current and former Gopher women's hockey players are currently representing their countries at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea as six players with Gopher ties are on the 2018 U.S. Women's Olympic Team and two Minnesota alumnae are representing Finland.
Senior Kelly Pannek and Gopher alumnae Hannah Brandt ('16), Dani Cameranesi ('17), Amanda Kessel ('16), Gigi Marvin ('09), and Lee Stecklein ('17) are representing the Red, White, and Blue with Team USA. Fellow Gopher alumnae Mira Jalosuo and Noora Raty are playing for their native Finland.
MINNEAPOLIS - Preliminary round group play continued early Tuesday morning with Finland falling to Canada, 4-1, before the United States defeated the Olympic Athletes from Russia, 5-0.

Despite a 28-save effort from Noora Raty, Finland fell 4-1 to Canada in preliminary round play.

Group A Game 4: USA 5, Russia 0
Gigi Marvin (1g-1a) and Hannah Brandt (1g) scored Team USA's fourth and fifth goals, and Dani Cameranesi (1a) set up Brandt's goal with an incredible pass as the United States secured one of the top two seeds in Group A and a bye to the semifinal round with its second win of the Games.

Wednesday, Feb. 14: USA vs. Canada, 9:10 p.m. CT (NBCSN)
Thursday, Feb. 15: Finland vs. Russia, 1:40 a.m. CT (USA Network)
Quarterfinal, classification, and semifinal round games are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16 through Tuesday, Feb. 20. The medal-round games are set for Wednesday, Feb. 21 with the bronze medal game at 1:40 a.m. CT and the gold medal game at 10:10 p.m. CT.
