Lucas Reps 'U' in El Salvador

LA LIBERTAD, El Salvador -- Gophers freshman Hunter Lucas represented the United States and the University of Minnesota at the 2018 NACAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, competing in the Men's U20 eight-kilometer race.

A native of Fargo, N.D., Lucas finished 22nd on Saturday, covering the course in 27:08.0.

The 2016 Powerade North Dakota Senior Athlete of the Year and the 2016 North Dakota Class A state cross country champion, Lucas previously won both the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters at the 2016 USATF Junior Olympic National Championships.

The Gophers have now been represented at two-straight NACAC Cross Country Championships with Nick Rink finishing eighth last year in Boca Raton, Fla., as the U.S. Under-20 Men's Team claimed a gold medal.
