"Nails by Bella. Pink is definitely our color."

Those were the words - accompanied by an emoji of some freshly painted fingernails and a heart - that Minnesota star running back Rodney Smith tweeted yesterday.

Smith and some of his teammates were visiting the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital and spent time with Bella, a young patient at the world-renowned facility. Smith stuck out his right hand, one that has helped him rush for 2,805 career yards (eighth all-time in school history), and smiled widely as Bella painted his nails a bright shade of pink.

The image of Bella delicately and intently painting Smith's nails was captured by a Gopher staff member and shared on social media. It was a stark reminder that football is about more than wins and losses. It's about the ability to affect a life or have your life affected by others.

The Gophers routinely visit Masonic and below are a few tweets from yesterday.
