MINNEAPOLIS -- Hannah Arason is one of 16 redshirt freshmen making her official Gophers debut this season. After competing unattached as a true rookie last season, Arason has competed in four meets so far this indoor season and has already made her mark on Minnesota's all-time top-10 list.

A multi-event athlete from Grand Forks, N.D., Arason came to the University of Minnesota as a 14-time North Dakota Class A State Track & Field Championship participant in high jump, javelin, and the 4x400m relay, including winning two state titles each in the high jump and javelin.

After making her official debut for the Maroon & Gold at the SDSU Holiday Invite back in December, Arason most recently placed fourth in the pentathlon at the Power Five Invite. She set career-best marks in all five pentathlon events on the way to a career-best score of 3,851, which ranks fourth among all-time Gophers pentathletes.

Get to know Arason on and off the track as the Gophers prepare for a three-meet week, just two weeks out from the 2018 Big Ten Conference Indoor Championship.
