USA Volleyball Release
Gopher Volleyball outside hitter Jasmyn Martin is one of 24 student-athletes to compete with USA Volleyball this summer as a part of the Women's Collegiate National Team (CNT) in Detroit.
Martin is the second Golden Gopher to be named to one of the USA Volleyball's summer competition as Stephanie Samedy was named to the CNT-China roster. Like Samedy, Martin was selected to the CNT-Detroit roster by competing in the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, March 2-4, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The CNT-Detroit squad, which is part of USA Volleyball's High Performance pipeline and is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team, will train from June 22-26 at the University of Michigan. Afterward, the athletes will be assigned to one of two 12-member teams that will play three exhibition matches against each other at the Cobo Center from June 27, June 28 and June 30. The matches are being held in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships under the same roof.
Joining the Gopher Volleyball program in January of 2017, Martin saw action in 87 of 118 possible sets during the 2017 campaign. In that span, Martin established 170 kills, averaged 1.95 kills per set and collected 40 total blocks. A three-rotation outside, Martin also had 59 digs during her rookie season.
