MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota softball hits the road one final time in regular season play. The Gophers take their season-high nine-game winning streak southeast to take on Purdue in a Big Ten three-game series April 27-29. The series finale on Sunday, April 27 is set to air on Big Ten Network with a first pitch time of 11 a.m. CT.
CHASING HISTORY
Sophomore Kendyl Lindaman is back chasing her own history as the single-season home run leader. With 17 already this season, she is four shy of tying the record she set last season. A career mark of 37 home runs, Lindaman is tied fifth all-time in Gopher history with Sara Groenewegen.
B1G Co-Pitcher of the Week
For the second straight week sophomore right-hander Amber Fiser has earned Big Ten weekly honors. Posting a perfect 3-0 weekend against Nebraska, Fiser earns Co-Pitcher of the Week honors with Indiana's Tara Trainer. The Van Horne, Iowa native threw 16.1 innings of work allowing two runs, only one of which was earned, and stuck out 15 Cornhusker batters this past weekend. Tossing a season total of 175.2 innings this season, she has now thrown in 64.4% of the Gophers' innings played while starting a Big Ten best 29 games. With a 6-0 win on Saturday Fiser tossed her sixth shutout of the season, before allowing her first earned run in 26.1 innings on Sunday.
GET `ER DONE EARLY
Minnesota has been all about the efficiency in their last 10 games where they hold a nine-game winning streak. The Gophers have collected shortened-game victories in five of the nine wins.
Not only are the Gophers winning games quicker, they are scoring much earlier in the game as well. During the 10 game stretch, Minnesota has scored 42 of the 75 runs scored in the first three innings. 19 of those 42 have come in the opening frame.
TWO-OUT HOT
Panic mode doesn't set in for the Gophers when there are two-outs in the inning. In fact with runners in scoring position Minnesota has recorded 80 of their 208 RBI, or 38.4%, with two away.
A SERIES WIN BY MINNESOTA WOULD...
A series win by Minnesota would give the Gophers their fourth-straight conference series win. The win would also give Minnesota their sixth-consecutive series win over Purdue and be the third while being the visiting team. A series win would also guarantee that the Gophers remain in the top-three of the Big Ten Standings.
