Spagnola Takes 11th at USATF Outdoors

DES MOINES, Iowa – University of Minnesota alumna Emma Spagnola placed 11th in the 400m hurdles at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.
Spagnola clocked a time of 58.40 seconds to place fifth in her heat and ended up 11th overall. Georganne Moline (Xendurance), Cassandra Tate (adidas), and Shamier Little (adidas) posted the top-three semifinal times overall as Moline (54.64) and Tate (55.33) went one-two in Spagnola's heat. The top three in each heat plus the next two fastest times advanced to Sunday's final.
Action at the USA Outdoor Championships continues through Sunday. Fellow Gopher alum Madeline Strandemo competed in the 3,000m steeplechase at the meet, placing 17th in 10:05.32.
