As the University of Minnesota soccer team gears up for another season, GopherSports.com sat down with each player on the 2018 team to get to know them better on and off the field!
Arianna Del Moral was the next to sit down with GopherSports.com to get to know her more on and off the field!
GopherSports.com: What are your summer plans? Internship? Travel? Playing Soccer? ANYTHING!
Arianna Del Moral: This summer I am planning on attending the Ultimate Training Camp for a week with a few of the other gopher players on the team. I will also be playing in a few games with the U19 Minneapolis United team and will come in and workout with the other gopher players who will be in town.
GS: Heading out of school for a few months, what do you like to do with your free time? Hobbies? Interests?
ADM: I love to spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoy going to the lake and spending time in the warm weather. When I'm at home I love to watch movies.
GS: How did you begin playing soccer? What sparked your interest as a child?
ADM: I began playing soccer when I was four years old and my parents signed me up on a recreational team in the summer. My parents continued to put me in leagues and I just began to fall in love with the game.
GS: What other positions have you played in the past? For instance… if you were a goal scorer in high school, and you are not now, what has that position change been like? Or vice versa…
ADM: For the most part, I have always played midfield, but I also have been switched into outside mid and outside forward.
GS: What kind of person would you describe yourself as? What kind of player would you describe yourself as?
ADM: I am very hardworking, trustworthy, kind, and I work well with others. On the field I am very dedicated, hardworking, coachable, and always looking for ways to grow.
GS: Have you played other sports in your life?
ADM: I danced when I was younger.
GS: Is there a story behind your number you have in college? What about what you had in high school?
ADM: Ever since I began playing soccer I have been number nine, in both club and high school. Nine has just been a number that I have naturally been attached too. It has always been available, and it has meant a lot to me. Once I got to college and realized that nine was taken I realized that eleven was next number I really liked.
GS: What made you choose to come to the University of Minnesota? What does it mean to be a Gopher to you?
ADM: I really loved the culture and the people when I first came to visit Minnesota. I felt very welcomed, and I really liked that. I also picked Minnesota because I knew that the soccer program was very competitive, and that was something I wanted to be apart of. The last reason I picked Minnesota was because it was close to home.
GS: What is your favorite part about playing soccer here?
ADM: I think my favorite part about playing soccer at the U is that the level of competition is so high and the players are really great people.
