Summer Spotlight: Cammy Frei

Entering her junior season on the tennis team, Cammy Frei has been tearing it up on the court. As a freshman she went 4-1 in singles play and 10-10 in doubles, including 8-4 at the No. 2 slot. In her second season with the Gophers, the Winnetka, Ill., native, went 13-5 in singles play and 7-3 in doubles. She finished on a hot streak, as she won her last four matches of the year. Not only is she proving herself on the court, Frei is also preparing for life after athletics. This summer the industrial engineering major is working at Polaris as a part of her summer internship. Gophersports.com caught up with the rising star in this brief question and answer session.
What is your internship and can you tell us the process of how you were able to obtain it?
I'm currently a product planning intern at Polaris which is a company that works with off-road vehicles. Because of networking and a personal connection, I was able to secure this internship for the summer.
What are your primary responsibilities within your internship?
My primary responsibilities are working on color and graphics for MY20 as well as the Gate 1 for MY22. For MY20 I look at historical sales data and work with the ID team to help narrow down our color and graphic options. For the Gate 1, I help define a market for MY22 and find data to support the changes we want to make for MY22.
What skills are you learning this summer that can help you in the long term?
My internship is a mix between engineering and marketing. I have not taken many business related classes so I am learning a lot about the marketing and business in general.
Another season is coming up, what are you most looking forward to during the 2018-19 season?
I'm looking forward to the ITA kick-off next season because not every team has the opportunity to compete in this and we get to play teams we normally wouldn't play.
