TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Tuesday that four University of Minnesota women's tennis players have been named 2017 Scholar-Athletes, while the team was named an All-Academic program. Caroline Ryba, Caitlyn Merzbacher, Kalyssa Hall, and River Hart were the four Gophers selected for the honor.

To be an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters. The team award is given to programs who have a cumulative GPA of over 3.20, with all letter-winners factored in for the previous academic year.

This is Ryba's second time earning the award, while Ryba, Hall and Merzbacher also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this past season.
