Rouse played in 88 career games for the Maroon and Gold from 2007-2010.

Molly Rouse has officially joined the University of Minnesota women's soccer staff as an Assistant Coach, announced by head coach Stefanie Golan today.

"We are thrilled to add alumna Molly Rouse to the coaching staff. Molly has such a passion for the program and is a bright young coach who is committed to influencing the lives of young women through coaching," Golan said. "We have watched her work her way through the profession and learn each step of the way, and she has really blossomed under Coach DiIanni at Iowa this past year. She embodies all that Minnesota Soccer stands for and we look forward to the impact she will make."

Rouse, a Minnesota soccer alum, played in 88 career games for the Maroon and Gold in her four seasons that spanned from 2007-2010. Rouse netted 18 goals with the Golden Gophers while adding 17 assists for a grand total of 53 points in her career.

During her four seasons, the Gophers participated in the NCAA Tournament twice, reaching the third round both times, which is the deepest the Gophers have made it in the postseason in program history. Rouse also was a two-time All-Big Ten selection, and served as the team captain during her junior and senior campaigns.

"It is an absolute thrill to be returning to the University of Minnesota," Rouse said after the official announcement. "This incredible institution provided me an excellent experience as a student-athlete and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to return as a staff member. I have closely followed the progress of the program under Coach Golan's watch and I am excited to work with the talented Minnesota team she has assembled. I am grateful to Coach Golan for her support in my career, for this amazing opportunity to once again influence the Gophers and I look forward to her mentorship as a staff member."

While putting up her big numbers in Minneapolis, Rouse also was able to put many shots up. She currently holds the position for sixth most shots in a career at the University of Minnesota at 203. Rouse is also associated with one of the most consistent stretches in Gopher soccer history when she tallied at least one assist in five straight matches in 2008, tying her with Erin Hussey who did it across the 1993 and 1994 seasons.

Rouse rejoins the Gophers as an assistant coach after making multiple other assistant coaching stops since leaving in 2010. She most recently coached the University of Iowa (2017-18), Nebraska-Omaha (2017), Buffalo (2015-16) and Alabama State (2014). Prior to coaching Rouse was played a few years professionally, competing for the Minnesota Kings and Vancouver Whitecaps in the Women's Premier Soccer League.

"I am thankful to David DiIanni and Iowa Soccer for preparing me as a Big Ten Assistant Coach and for the support to return to Minnesota, which has been a dream of mine since my graduation in 2012," Rouse said. "I want to thank former Minnesota Head Coach, Mikki Denney-Wright, for providing me my start as a Golden Gopher student-athlete, former Minnesota Associate Head Coach and teammate, Krystle Seidel, for serving as an inspiration to impact Minnesota Soccer as a coach, and my husband, Dane Obermeyer, for his never ending support of my career. Nothing makes me happier than the thought of being Golden Gopher again and I am incredibly elated to getting started!"

Rouse graduated with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education with a minor in child psychology and an emphasis on American Sign Language from the University of Minnesota in 2010. She currently holds a U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) National "B" License.
