Fire SC 98 Schedule // Minnesota TwinStars Schedule // WPSL Home
It was another eventful week for the various Gophers taking part in WPSL action. Teams that have Minnesota soccer players on them finished the week with an overall record of 1-2-1, including a game between the two teams that have five current student athletes and one alum on the respective rosters.
Playing three games this week was the Minnesota TwinStars, who field Minnesota alum Maddie Gaffney. Gaffney's team was able to finish with a 0-2-1 record, scoring five goals in the three games.
For the current Gophers, who all play on Fire SC 98, it was a 1-1-0 week, including a 6-1 victory over their Minnesota counterparts, the Minnesota TwinStars yesterday.
In the 6-1 victory, all four participating players finished with at least one point. Molly Fiedler was the lone player to find the back of the next on a spectacular 25-yard strike from the middle of the field.
Emily Heslin was able to cap her week off with a pair of assists in the win while Makenzie Langdok and freshman McKenna Buisman notching an assist each.
The current Gophers on Fire SC 98 will wrap up their season in the next two weeks with one match per week. With the WPSL postseason on the horizon, both teams will not qualify as the Chicago Red Star Reserves have already clinched the North Conference Championship with their undefeated record so far this summer.
The TwinStars also have just two games to go in the summer, with the final game once again against their in-state rival, Fire July 7 at Seafoam Stadium at Concordia University at approximately 7:00 p.m.
