Potomak Named WCHA Rookie of the Month

Amy Potomak has been honored as the WCHA Rookie of the Month for her play during December 2018.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Freshman forward Amy Potomak was honored as WCHA Rookie of the Month, Powered by GoodWood Hockey, for December 2018. She earned her first WCHA Rookie of the Month nod after the Golden Gophers posted a perfect 3-0-0 record during the month of December to end the first half of the season on a 10-game winning streak.
Potomak led WCHA rookies with four assists and 1.33 assists per game during December; her four points were tied for second among WCHA freshmen. Potomak posted a career-high four assists in Minnesota's non-conference sweep over Robert Morris (Dec. 7-8). She set up Emily Brown's game-winning goal and Minnesota's sixth goal in the team's 6-1 win over the Colonials before adding another pair of assists in the Gophers' 5-0 win in game two. In addition, Potomak was plus-three for the month and recorded a .440 winning percentage in the faceoff circle during December.
The Aldergrove, British Columbia native helped the Gophers outscore opponents, 14-2, in three games for a +4.00 scoring margin during December while the team posted a perfect 3-0-0 record to lead the WCHA and NCAA with a 1.000 winning percentage.
Potomak and the Gophers return to action at Ridder Arena this weekend when the team hosts the inaugural Minnesota Cup.
