STARTING FIVE
• The Gophers return to power conference competition for the next five games, beginning Friday afternoon with a home matinee against DePaul. Despite being separated by just over 400 miles, this is the first regular season on-campus matchup between the two schools since December 15, 1962.
• After a challenging three-game road trip against power conference opponents, Minnesota is in the midst of its longest homestand of the season. Following the stretch which concludes with the Big Ten/ACC Challenge game against Clemson on Dec. 2, Minnesota will have back-to-back home games just twice more during the regular season.
• Already twice in six games, the Gophers have taken aim at the record books with hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Against Central Michigan, Minnesota drained 14 treys, which ties for the second-most in school history (last: 12/13/02 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson). Minnesota sank 13 3-pointers in the season opener vs. Cleveland State.
• Sophomore Jarvis Omersa had his best game of his career to date on Sunday against the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota. The Orono, Minn., native recorded career-highs with 11 points, a game-high nine rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes. Omersa made 5-of-9 field goals and also came up with a pair of steals in the Gophers' victory.
• The Gophers already rank highly among the nation's college basketball teams in several categories. As of Nov. 27, Minnesota is 13th in 3-pointers made per game (B1G: 1st), and 35th in blocked shots per game (B1G: 6th). Daniel Oturu is 23rd in double doubles (B1G: 2nd) and 13th in the country in blocks (B1G: 3rd) while 14th in rebounds per game (B1G: 2nd) and 43rd in field goal percentage (B1G: 2nd). Marcus Carr is 16th in the country in assists per game (B1G: 2nd).

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
• The red-hot Blue Demons come to Minneapolis with a 7-0 record, including a home victory over Central Michigan, 88-75, on Tuesday night.
• The Blue Demons' 7-0 start marks their best opening to a season since 1986-87, when they won their first 16 games of the season en route to a 28-3 record and NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.
• DePaul will play a true road game against a major opponent for the third time on Friday, after winning at Iowa, 93-78, on Nov. 11 and winning at Boston College, 72-67, on Saturday.
• Three Blue Demons average double figures, led by Charlie Moore who chips in 16.6 points per game, while Paul Reed averages a double-double of 15.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest.

GOPHERS VS. THE BIG EAST
• Minnesota has amassed a record of 45-33 against the current membership of the Big East Conference.
• That total includes the following individual opponent records: Butler (3-1), Creighton (7-3), DePaul (8-9), Georgetown (1-2), Marquette (18-14), Providence (3-0), St. John's (1-1), Seton Hall (0-1), Villanova (1-1), Xavier (3-1). Games that were later
vacated are excluded from that list.
• Head coach Richard Pitino is facing a Big East opponent for the fifth time. He is no stranger to the conference, however, as an alumnus of Providence College and having spent time on the Louisville coaching staff when the Cardinals were in the
Big East.
• Minnesota already faced a BIG EAST foe this year, falling 64-56 at Butler on Nov. 12.

UP NEXT
• The Gophers continue play against power conference opposition, hosting Clemson on Monday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge presented by Continental Tire.
• Tip off is set for 8 p.m., on ESPN2 while KFAN 100.3 FM will carry the Gopher Radio Network broadcast in the Twin Cities.
