The Minnesota soccer program had four student-athletes honored as 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team members, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Nikki Albrecht and Marisa Windingstad earned the honor as well as juniors Athena Kuehn and Maddie Nielsen. All four are now eligible for Academic All-American consideration which will be selected later this year.

No other Big Ten school had more than two first-team honorees while the Gophers boast four.

Albrecht and Kuehn both started 18 games this season and combined for three goals to go along with seven total points. Meanwhile, Windingstad and Nielsen were the only two Gophers this season to start and play every minute of every game.

Since the end of the season Albrecht was named a member of the third-team All-Big Ten while Windingstad was the recipient of the sportsmanship award.

To be recognized for this distinguished status, student-athletes must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA while also competing in at least 50 percent of a school's competition.
