In honor of Black History Month, Gopher Athletics is celebrating those who made us great. Throughout February, GopherSports.com will share short interviews with African-American alumni from various Gopher programs. In these interviews, former student-athletes reflect on their time at the U of M, provide advice to current Gophers and share what Black History Month means to them personally.

What is it you miss most about the University?
I miss my teammates and the moments we shared on and off the court.
If you could give the current student-athletes any piece of advice, what would it be?
Cherish each moment because they go by fast and live with no regrets because you can't get time back.
What was your favorite university or athletic event you've attended since you graduated and what made it so special to you?
I am a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan! So it's always a special time whenever I can make it to a game.
What are you grateful for?
Everything. Life is too short to take anything for granted.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Black History Month is a time to celebrate and reflect on our past and present successes. Ironically, we like to reduce many of our great achievements to a handful of memorable moments which is why Black History Month is also a good platform to continue to educate myself, and others about Black History in this country.
What occupies your time now?
I am teaching English to young ESL students and am playing ball in Sydney, Australia.
