In three seasons with the Gophers, Schammel has recorded 85 points on 35 goals and 50 assists in 109 games. She has a team-best 12 multi-point games and six multi-assist games; Schammel has at least one point in 26 of Minnesota's 32 games this season. She scored game-winning goals in a 3-1 win over then No. 1 Wisconsin (Jan. 19) and a 5-3 win over Minnesota Duluth (Feb. 3).

A fifth-year senior for the Gophers, Schammel completed her undergraduate degree in Business and Marketing Education and is currently earning her Masters of Education in Sport Management. She completed an internship at Os Hockey and is currently an intern with JK Medical. Schammel is a two-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten, and WCHA All-Academic honoree and was named an AHCA All-American Scholar and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2016-17.

Schammel has recorded over 60 hours of community service. Her volunteer experience includes local youth hockey associations, along with the Girls Hockey Outdoor Classic, Herb Brooks Foundation, and Hockey Limited, non-profit organizations Doing Good Together and Loaves and Fishes, participation in the University of Minnesota and HopeKids annual Hope Day Festival, and other Gopher Athletics volunteer opportunities through the Golden Gopher Fund and Gopher International.

An award of The USA Hockey Foundation, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is annually bestowed upon the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. Other selection criteria include outstanding individual and team skills, sportsmanship, performance in the clutch, personal character, competitiveness and a love of hockey. Consideration is also given to academic achievement and civic involvement.

The 2019 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Ceremony and Brunch will be held March 23 at Cascade Fine Catering in Hamden, Conn. in conjunction with the 2019 NCAA Women's Frozen Four. Tickets to the event are on sale now.

Schammel joins sophomore forward Jesse Compher (Boston University), senior forward Jessie Eldridge (Colgate), freshman forward Sarah Fillier (Princeton), senior forward Loren Gabel (Clarkson), sophomore forward Elizabeth Giguere (Clarkson), senior defender Megan Keller (Boston College), freshman forward Alina Mueller (Northeastern), senior forward Annie Pankowski (Wisconsin), and senior goaltender Lovisa Selander (RPI) to make up this year's top-10 finalists.

Nine schools are represented in the top-10, including two finalists from Clarkson. Among the top-10 finalists are eight forwards, one defense, and one goaltender, including six seniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen. ECAC Hockey leads all conferences with five finalists, while the Hockey East boasts three finalists, and the WCHA has two finalists.

The selection process commenced earlier this month when NCAA Division I women's ice hockey coaches were asked to nominate players for the award. Players who were nominated by multiple coaches were then placed on an official ballot, which was sent back to the coaches to vote for the top-10 finalists. The independent accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, tabulated the ballots.

The three finalists, including the recipient of the 2019 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, will be chosen by a 13-person selection committee made up of NCAA Division I women's ice hockey coaches, representatives of print and broadcast media, an at-large member and representative of USA Hockey, the national governing body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States. The top-three finalists will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Tickets to the 2019 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Ceremony and Brunch can be purchased at PattyKaz.com. Individual seats to the event are $65, while tables of 10 are available for $600. A select number of sponsorships and program advertisements are also available.
