Antoine Winfield Jr. delivered the punt return of the year against New Mexico State
Throughout the offseason we will take a look at one of Minnesota's touchdowns from the 2018 season in what we are calling Touchdown Tuesday. Today, we look at Antoine Winfield Jr.'s electrifying punt return against New Mexico State.

Tyler Johnson's First of Three Against Miami
Green Powers U to Victory
Winfield's return was the Gophers first punt return for a touchdown since Marcus Jones returned a punt 65 yards for a score at New Mexico State in 2013. Winfield's return was also a big reason when the Gophers ended the season ranked No. 1 in the nation in punt return average at a mark of 22.3 yards per return.
Winfield had never fielded a punt before he trotted onto the TCF Bank Stadium turf against the Aggies on Aug. 30, 2018. Minnesota was leading 21-10 and there were 2:45 seconds left in the first half. Winfield didn't fair catch his first punt. Instead, he caught, careened off nearly the entire New Mexico State defense and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown. The return blew the game wide open, as the Gophers would win 48-10.Punt return of the year? Punt return of the year!
