DenHartog Smashes Her Way to Conference Honors

Natalie DenHartog helped the University of Minnesota Gophers pick up four wins including a pair of top-10 victories at the Longhorn Invitational this past weekend and has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Hopkins, Minn. native led the team with a 1.000 slugging percentage and nine RBIs on the weekend. She opened the weekend with a pair of home runs against Texas Southern. She helped keep the Gophers alive in the lone loss of the weekend when she launched a seventh inning home run over the scoreboard against No. 9/10 Texas to pull Minnesota within two. She then helped the Gophers top the Longhorns on Sunday with a first inning RBI-double.
DenHartog finished the weekend with six hits including two doubles and three home runs. She also drew two walks and stole two bases. Currently, she leads the entire team with seven home runs already this season and has a team leading .843 slugging percentage.
This is the first weekly honor of DenHartog's career. She joins Hope Brandner and Amber Fiser as Gophers honored by the Big Ten this season.
