Fiser Wins National Awards

After a dominant weekend in the circle Amber Fiser has been recognized as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Pitcher of the Week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Tuesday. 

Fiser has made headlines all week after already earning Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, FastPitchNews National Pitcher of the week and was highlighted by Softball America and Justin's World of Softball. 

The Van Horne, Iowa native pitched three complete game victories this past weekend. She pitched a one-hit shutout against Drake to start the weekend recording 12 strikeouts along the way. She followed it up with 13 strikeouts in a rematch with Drake on Saturday. She finished the weekend by winning a pitcher's duel against No. 19 James Madison ace Megan Good, the 2017 Schutt Sports/NFCA Player of the Year. Against JMU, Fiser tossed another 12 strikeouts while only allowing one unearned run. 

Fiser finished the weekend with a 0.33 ERA and 37 strikeouts. She is currently fourth in the entire country with 96 strikeouts on the season and is 14th with only 31 hits allowed in 64 innings. Fiser is 7-4 on the season with a 1.31 ERA. This is the second time she has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Pitcher of the Week in her career.
