In the midst of taking on Wisconsin in a doubleheader, Amber Fiser was named a Top-26 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is in its 18th season, recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.

Fiser is just one of three Big Ten players to make the Top-26. She is also one of 13 pitchers tabbed to the list. The list includes 10 seniors, nine juniors including Fiser, four sophomores and three freshmen. The 26 finalists represent 18 NCAA Division I universities.

Fiser is 22-6 on the season and has recorded a 1.38 ERA in 31 appearances. In 177.2 innings, she has struck out 242 batters and has only allowed 35 earned runs. She recently amassed over 500 strikeouts in her career, becoming just the seventh player in school history to do so.

The junior ace has earned four Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors this season. She was also named the FastPitchNews.com National Player of the Week and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division 1 National Pitcher of the Week once. The Van Horne, Iowa native is 41-10 in her career with a 1.69 ERA and 320 strikeouts.

The 26 finalists will be narrowed down to 10 on May 8 and the Top-3 finalists will be announced on May 22.
