The 13th-annual Golden Goldys awards banquet happened on Monday, April 29, as two Gopher volleyball members walked away with an award. Taylor Morgan was named the Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year, while Adanna Rollins was named the Female Rookie of the Year. It was the first Golden Goldy award for both of them.

Morgan battled through four knee surgeries for a chance to play in the Gophers' starting lineup. As a red-shirt junior, Morgan went from playing 42 sets to 103 and amassed 249 kills. She became a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection and was an AVCA All-America honorable mention.

As a freshman, Rollins jumped into the starting rotation and was named an All-America honorable mention. Rollins averaged 2.59 kills per set and 2.68 digs per set, which ranked third on the team. For her efforts, she was named the North Region Freshman of the Year, a VolleyballMag.com Freshman All-American, a Big Ten All-Freshman selection and Second Team All-Big Ten honoree.

Morgan's award marked the fifth time in the 13-year history a Gopher volleyball player was named the breakthrough athlete of the year. Sarah Wilhite (2017), Paige Tapp (2015), Katherine Harms (2013) and Jessica Grandquist (2011) also received the award. Rollins' rookie of the year award marked volleyball's third freshman award in school history. Both Alexis Hart (2017) and Samantha Seliger-Swenson (2016) received the award.
